Atmosphere: Flowers & Favors
Reception sites vary a great deal in the amount of decoration that is needed. Some reception locations are beautiful in and of themselves, while others may require a little or a lot of embellishment. There are many items that can enhance any setting considerably, including flowers, balloons, candles, ice sculptures, fountains and linens.
Greenery, trees, potted plants and garlands can transform an uninteresting room into something out of the ordinary. A single flower blossom on a table can have a stunning effect.
Many Kentuckiana couples choose to decorate emphasizing the season in which they are married. You can continue such a theme or color scheme from the ceremony through to the reception.
You will also want to pay close attention to the way the tables at your reception are decorated. After all, your guests will be spending several hours at them. Remember to keep flower arrangements low, so your guests can see over them.
Party favors such as chocolates, matches, incense sticks, and soaps are nice touches that will make a great statement. When favors appear at the tables, they often make your guests feel welcome and appreciated.
Each table should have a floor-length cover, as well as a centerpiece. To keep things interesting vary the centerpieces in height and design. Centerpieces should be the right size for the table and low enough to have a conversation over.
Ice Sculptures & Balloons
A great way to add an extra air of elegance and drama to your reception is with a hand-carved ice sculpture. A well designed, lighted ice sculpture will contribute greatly to an air of elegance and soft romance, as well as being a great way to personalize your special day.
Sculptures are generally carved from a 300-600 pound block of crystal-clear ice, and range from 20-60 inches in height. The massive size of sculptures allow them to last for hours at room temperature, even when outdoors in warm weather.
The design possibilities of ice sculptures are many, as new technology now allows sculptures to be cast in molds, as well as be carved from blocks of ice.
Make sure the contract includes a special base for water drainage, accent lighting, delivery, setup and final pickup of the sculpture.
Balloons
Balloons are a great decorating option also. Balloons can dress up all most any reception facility. Balloon arches are often placed at the entrance to a reception facility as well as on the dance floor. Balloons can also be used as centerpieces and backdrops for the cake table.
